SoCal’s Banana Belt Is Back!

Come check out some cool banana- & avocado plantations with us!

Are you familiar with the term “the Southern California Banana Belt”? Many people are not, but we have come to know this area better than anyone, thanks to the local banana farmers and famous local authors as John Doerper. This area covers of a stretch of California coastline, starting in Santa Barbara and follows the coast down to our Ventura limousine headquarters. You may have thought of tropical islands or someplace exotic, but this particular region has been named this for being one of few places in the continental USA that have proven excellent for cultivating bananas.

Visit the gorgeous SoCal vineyards!

Even in the coldest of the wintertime, the temperatures here never reach the freezing point. La Conchita is an amazing plantation well worth the visit. Some of our Santa Ynez wine tour clients recently spiked up their vineyard wine-tasting by adding a banana farm tour to their trip! We have heard from numerous clients, even planation owners coming in from abroad and using our LAX airport transfer services: some plantations here have over fifty varieties of bananas! Ranging from types that originated in tropical areas of places such as Vietnam, Hawaii, Jamaica, Spain, China, India, and many more. A recent trend among many utilizing our Santa Barbara limo service has been to spice up their luxurious events or vineyard trips by also including some fun and different type of experience. Prior to becoming a banana plantation, the area was a housing complex for oilfields employees. Also nicknamed the avocado belt or avocado coast, book a party bus and come do some exciting tastings!

The outdoor veranda at Bridlewood Winery is popular for picnicking

With its warmer winters, and pleasant temperatures moderated by coastal fog, this area has proven great not only for growing bananas and avocados, but also is an incredibly popular region for touring the gorgeous vineyards. Famous for having been features in the movie Sideways (2004), our award-winning Santa Ynez wine tour is an experience for life. In this gorgeous canyon-land, there are numerous popular wineries well worth checking out. This laid-back, relaxed, farming area is naturally stunningly beautiful, and many wine-tasting clients of ours bring their own food for some outdoor picnicking in the scenic surroundings of the valley. Some favorites for our Santa Barbara limo service clientele include the Kalyra-, Bridlewood-, Sunstone-, and Rideau vineyards and wineries. While Kalyra offers some amazing panoramic and scenic views of the valley and bordering mountains, Bridlewood Winery is removed from the main road and provides a truly peaceful countryside setting. The back verandas here are ideal for picnicking and many customers using our party bus or limos often bring their friends along for some great tastings and picnicking at Bridlewood. Other areas our vineyard-tours cover include the Santa Rita Hills, the Malibu Canyons, as well as the Santa Maria- and Temecula Valleys.
